June Already Gone...Where Does the Time Go?

I remember when I was a kid, it seemed like time just couldn't fly fast enough. Now it seems it goes by too fast! Another birthday, another Father's Day, and now we're headed to Fourth of July! Where has the time gone? I have to say... I have been truly blessed through it all.

As I thanked God for years of blessings on my birthday, and a wonderful Dad on Father's Day, I will be praying for America on the Fourth... that God will continue to have his hand on this land, and protect her.

May God bless America.

God's Blessings on America.

By God's hand America is free,
Throughout history God's hand has been on her.
Many died for other's liberty,
We remember, and give them honor.

May God bless our land, America,
May we live as a beacon of Truth
May we stand as an honorable people
To all the Nations on Earth.

Your Word.

In a world of turmoil and shame,
Your word brings comfort.
In a world where sorrow remains,
Your word brings peace.
In a world cruel and ruthless,
Your word brings love.
In a world of shattered dreams,
Your word brings hope.
In a world that makes no sense,
Your word brings joy.
In a world where death resides,
Your word bring life.
In a world full of lies,
Your word brings truth.
Blessed is the Lord,
Who's word will last forever.

Ah Spring!

One of the most enjoyable things I do while spending time outdoors in God's nature is to watch the little critters He created...mainly birds... they are so entertaining! And to be outside, listening to the birds and watching them in action is quite a treat to me.

There's a little waterfall that trickles into a small  pond in the corner of my backyard garden that attracks all kinds of birds. I've seen some absolutely gorgeous species! Only God could have created such creatures, and instilled in them the insticts I observed, when a Wren went flying by, as I was settling into a comfortable chair with my cup of coffee the other morning...

I watched as the miniature bird (hanging onto the side of a swinging birdhouse) was industriously trying to cram a huge twig, that was twice it's size, into the tiny opening of the bird house. I had to chuckle as I watched... it finally managed to maneuver the twig, disappearerd into the bird house, then popped it's head out, and  flew out to go after another twig...it was a major operation getting that nest ready for the approval of his mate!

With all the commotion, I almost missed the chorus of birds that was all around me as I sat there. I suddenly felt like a congregant in Nature's Cathedral, with anthems rising to the Creator King! With the fragrance of sweet mock orange blossoms, and the green of  leaves appearing on branches everywhere and the birds singing, I was in Seventh Heaven! Ah Spring!

The greatest gift of Spring is the promise of Easter, the promise of the resurrection. Christ was raised to give us life. One day all of creation will sing to our risen Lord. The rocks will cry out and the trees will rejoice!

Lift up your heads O ye gates; lift them up you ancient doors, that the King of Glory may come in! Psalm 24:9

Nature's Fragrance.

The fragrance of nature
A gift from God's hand
Envelops the senses,
And sweetens the land.
The perfume from roses,
Fresh fallen rain,
Pine trees and pine cones,
Sweet smelling grain.
All of these fragrances
With Spring take birth,
They are made just for us,
God's gift to the earth.

When God Gives Us What We Ask For.

Sometimes God grants a nation or individuals what they want as a means of showing them that maybe they didn't understand the full picture, as He does, and maybe what we wanted wasn't what was best.

It's hard to go through unexpected reversals, even though we may have gotten what we thought we wanted...sometimes our ears get "tickled" and we go for something that isn't really what it appears to be, and then we are saddened to realize that we didn't make the best decision after all.

The good news is that God will always be there even when we make bad choices, to help us get back on track, or go through the storm ahead, as we recognize our mistake and let Him guide us on.

I pray that will be so as we head into the unknown at this time in our history. We don't know where we might be headed as a country, but we can trust that God will help us through whatever deep waters may be ahead, if we put our trust in Him and remember He is the giver of life, liberty and justice. All the powers in the world pale in contrast to His mighty power, and kings have no power but the power they are allowed to have, temporarily.

May God grant us grace and mercy for each day, as we go forward, resting in His hands, and trusting Him with our future.

It's Morning.

The sun peeks through branches and settles on flowers below. It's morning.

Dew glistens on roses. It's morning.

Birds chirp in happy chatter from tree to tree. It's morning.

A dog barks, a church bell rings. It's morning.

Cotton clouds reach up to touch God's face.

It's morning.

The Prince of Peace.

It is so encouraging to me knowing that God is in control of history. No matter what is happening in the world we have the promise that Christ, the Prince of Peace, Emanuel, the Ancient of Days, the First and Last, Alpha and Omega, will bring all things to a conclusion, and one day evil will be destroyed and we will see a new Heaven and Earth, with no more tears and heartache, only peace, beauty and light in His presence forever. After all, history is His Story.

I have to remind myself daily, that all things on this earth are temporal, only God's truth will last. Through Christ all things exist and are held together, and through Him we have life everlasting by faith in His gift to us, the sacrifice given freely so we might live.

Leaders will come and go, rise and fall. Only God will rule for eternity, and bring peace on Earth at His appointed time.

As we approach Thanksgiving, I thank God for His love, His provision, and for blessing our land since her founding. I pray His hand of Providence will remain on America.

Discerning the Truth.

When we look at the world, from our human perspective, things look pretty grim. We face a world full of contradictions. What seems to be true sometimes is the furthest from it. We are often fooled by the sweet lies that are thrown our way, and we fail to look beyond the deception.

When someone tells us they believe in God, country and family, and they want to lead us, we must be discerning to see what is truth, so we can make the right decision for our country. That's where God comes in, as we ask for discernment. He opens our eyes so we can see things we might miss.

When deciding who we will follow, or who we will choose to lead our country, we must realize words can deceive. When we look beyond rhetoric and promisses, and focus on deeds, who's company one keeps, and compare the two, they must confirm one another.

When someone claims to love country, but is allied with those who stomp on the flag, discernment says that isn't right. When someone says they love Christ, but attends a church who's pastor demeans people with ugly slurs, curses our country, and uses racial epithets, one does not speak for Christ, so how can one honor Christ by listening to this evil talk? When someone says they will help you by taking from another by force of government decree to spread the wealth, isn't that robbery? When someone says they are for family, yet won't protect the most vulnerable among us, the unborn, isn't that contradictory?

God warns that there will be false messiahs who will come claiming to be who they are not. God will give us discernment to know the truth if we will ask. I pray that on election day God will give us discernment, open our eyes, and that we will not be deceived.

God's Voice...

I heard God's voice today,
It rang so sweetly through the air,
A wren broke out in song,
A special message to declare:
"I am here".
God speaks to us in many ways,
Today he spoke through a creature rare,
His love eternal yet so near,
In God's creation
His voice we hear.

Life is Precious and God is in Control...

This week I came head on with how precious life is, yet fleeting... the sweetness of seeing the miracle of birth, holding a newborn baby, and receiving the message of serious illness of someone dear.

It has been a bittersweet time for me, seeing a precious new life, and wondering if another is reaching it's final days on this earth.

It has made me remember once again how precious life is and how fleeting, and yet God is in control of life itself. He knows the number of our days. He gave us the gift of eternal life through Christ, so that we would have the confidence that when our life ends on this earth it begins with Him in Heaven.

I thank God for His promisses to never leave us or forsake us, that  we can trust in the One who gave His life so we might live.

Another Birthday...

Time goes by, things change, days come and go. They turn into weeks, months and years. Looking back it's hard to believe so much time has passed since my first birthday that June 7th, when my Mom and Dad and sister welcomed me into the world!

When I was younger, I felt time would never pass fast enough and I would never grow up! Now I want time to slow down, so I can enjoy every moment with friends, family, and experience the beauty of God's Creation...all the special times that become memories all too soon.

God  has blessed me with a beautiful life. I have citizenship in a country where I am free to worship God, travel, pursue whatever dreams adventures and challenges my heart desires. I can't believe I have been so blessed.

I am so thankful for parents who modeled God's love to me, for a husband (who I met in college) who has stuck with me through thick and thin, for all the special people in my life, and for the country I love.

Tomorrow is Father's Day and I will be calling my Dad to tell him I'm so glad he's my Dad.

Every moment I have on this earth is a special gift from God's hand, and I am so thankful. May God help me to make the most of what He has given me, and in turn to bless others.

Light.

When I think of "light" I think of sunshine, glorious brightness, cheer... the opposite of darkness. I think of the beauty of dawn...the sun. Without light, what would there be? Only dark mass.

Jesus said "I am the light of the world". That is an amazing statement. That means without Him, there is only darkness.

In Psalms, David said "The Lord is my light and my Salvation- whom shall I fear?"

Isaiah said "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned".

John said "In him was life, and that life was the light of men".

Light...it wakes me each morning...glorious, wonderful light...

The Sounds of Silence...

It is so nice to spend a quiet Sunday afternoon simply enjoying peacefull silence...napping outside in a hammock, or sitting in a swing reading a good book, with nothing but the sound of birds, the breeze in the trees, children's laughter in the distance...

A quiet Sunday afternoon takes me back in time, to days long past, when I was a young girl in Brazil.

My family would spend Sunday afternoons after Church in a small house on a hillside overlooking the bay on Governor's Island, off the coast of Rio. There was a hammock on the front porch. I loved that hammock!

I remember how quiet it was there...a warm breeze always blowing... the ocean sparkled where the hillsde met the palm lined white sand beach far below. Life seemed so much simpler then...

I guess that's why God made Sundays...it's a day to worship... reflect... and be still... "Be still and know that I am God"...

It is so good  just to be still and enjoy the sounds of silence... and sweet memories God tucked away in the back of my mind...memories that appear, as I close my eyes, on a quiet Sunday afternoon.
